OUR STORY
Staples Custom Homes was founded by Dwin Staples in 1982. Dwin was wrapping up his time as the principal of Glen Rose High School. He began building unique, custom homes in his community. He started by building one home at a time, performing a substantial amount of the labor himself. The demand for his quality houses grew exponentially and resulted in a gradual sub-contracting of labor to increase productivity. Dwin raised his two sons, Clint and Steve, on the job sites.
They both decided to join Staples Custom Homes after graduating from college. Clint graduated from Tarleton State University, and Steve graduated from Angelo State University. Dwin has recently retired from the contracting aspect, but Clint and Steve equally divide the projects to ensure careful attention to the individual homeowner. Additionally, Clint personally oversees and installs interior trim work. Steve intricately designs and draws house plans, collaborating with the homeowners throughout the process.
Since retiring, Dwin still finds time to help with some of the construction site preparation and grade work.
Built on a Solid Foundation
In 1990, Staples Construction Inc. was officially established as a corporation. Dwin's sons, Clint and Steve, grew up working at different trades in the business. After they both graduated college, they went to work for Dwin and Staples Custom Homes. Although Dwin still assists in grade and excavation work, he retired from contracting in 2019, leaving the company to Steve and Clint.
We continue to operate as a small, family-owned custom homebuilding business. We usually complete around 8 to 12 projects a year, and have strived to follow the Lord, Jesus Christ in every business endeavor. He has blessed our company and consequent family.
Dwin Staples

Clint Staples
Clint Staples is a custom home builder based in Glen Rose, Texas. He studied at Tarleton State University and currently resides in his hometown of Glen Rose. Clint is married and works at Staples Custom Homes, a family-owned business established in 1982. The company specializes in designing and constructing custom homes tailored to client specifications, serving Glen Rose, Somervell County, and surrounding areas.
Steve Staples
Steve was raised right here in Glen Rose and from a young age was involved in building with his dad and brother. Starting with menial tasks of cleanup and then learning all the construction trades, Steve went on to earn a business degree from Angelo State University. At that time, Steve began helping from the management side of construction as a partner in Staples Custom Homes. Today Steve handles all the design and drafting duties of construction, as well as sharing superintending duties with Clint. The mission of Steve’s life is to love Jesus and to love other people.
Jose Rodriguez
Jose Rodriguez is the master craftsman that completes the "custom" in Staples Custom Homes. He installs all our interior trim and doors, as well as most of the custom details and finish-out that helps set Staples Custom Homes apart. We are proud to have Jose as part of our team and feel he is an extension of our family. With his dual lingual and dual citizenship credentials, we not only work alongside Jose occupationally, but have also served alongside him across the border on construction mission trips, sharing the good news of Jesus.
